Lens Implants | Toric IOL

Toric IOLs are artificial intraocular lenses designed to correct astigmatism and cataracts simultaneously. They are implanted in the eye to restore vision after a clouded natural lens (cataract) is removed.

The lens of the IOL is convex on both sides (biconvex) and made of a soft plastic that can be folded prior to insertion.

Through a very small incision, the lens is surgically inserted into the eye, where it then gently unfolds to restore vision. The supporting arms of the lens position it within the eye.

Toric IOLs provide good uncorrected distance vision in adult patients with corneal astigmatism who have undergone cataract removal.
